Into the Woods Rewilding Retreat
Rewilding Our Stories through Myth & Nature
March 5-8, 2026
Wellspring Spa | Ashford, WA

This offering is FULL

Step into the mythic woods of transformation this spring for a restorative retreat that entwines deep applied mythology, feminine circle wisdom, and luxurious spa healing. Nestled at the threshold of Mount Tahoma, Wellspring Spa becomes our sanctuary for remembering the sacred stories buried within us—and between us—like mycelial threads beneath the forest floor.

Through myth and story, eco-spiritual teachings, nature-based practices, and earth-honoring rituals, we will explore the wild and wondrous enchanted reality of a sacred and mythic worldview. Drawing from spiritual ecology, sacred feminine wisdom, and arhchetypes rooted in the natural world, this retreat offers space to reclaim the Earth as sacred text and the body as a holy story.

Come rewild your wonder. Receive healing from the land, the circle, and the Spirit who speaks through wind, water, and wildflower. Spa treatments, soul care, and shared ritual await.

At the heart of this retreat is the art of re-story-ation—a return to the wild and the sacred through myth, story, and soulful restoration. Together, we’ll step across the gate of stories and into the mythic woods, where we may recover our own wild pelt or Selkie-skin, or perhaps meet, greet, and bless the exiled wild one within. Story circles will serve as the hearth-place for listening and carrying tales, weaving our own storied bones back into the round. Council Circles will invite our souls to speak into the stories, stitching new fabric for belonging and restoration. We’ll gather in a forested yurt that offers both comfort and the essentials, grounding our work in beauty and care. Favorite guided “rewilding-crafts” and natural materials will further aid the mythic formation of the stories within and around you, allowing your hands and imagination to join the work of restoring soul and self.

This retreat invites you into the work of re-wilding—remembering the untamed, luminous wholeness of your being. Together we’ll explore how the story-round restores what has been fractured, and how nature-based rites and rituals rekindle the wild landscape of the soul. Through wild wanders and woodland labyrinth walks, you’ll listen for the voice of the earth beneath your feet. In the Sacred Circle, you’ll connect with the Writer of All Stories, and in the Council of All Beings, you’ll find yourself woven back into the more-than-human community. Finally, you’ll be guided to enact your own ceremony of Return, honoring the ways you have been restored and re-storied by the wild.

At Tatoosh Lodge, reconnection unfolds in the simple, generative healing of being together in a “hut in the woods.” Here, women gather in the ease of shared living—eating meals around the table, resting in the same shelter, and circling the hearth as countless generations have done. You’ll reconnect with your body through the gift of massage, the warmth of saunas, and the deep soak of hot tubs. You’ll reconnect with nourishment through wholesome, uncomplicated foods that delight in their simplicity. And most of all, you’ll reconnect with yourself through intimacy with this sacred place, held by the forest and mountain. With spacious time to rest and restore, authentic reconnection arises naturally—body, soul, and spirit drawn back into harmony.

Step into the wild at Wellspring Spa, 54922 Kernahan Road East, Ashford, WA, just at the gateway to Mount Rainier National Park. Our retreat unfolds Thursday, March 5 (arrival at 3 PM) through Sunday, March 8 (departure at noon). Transportation is not provided.

We’ll gather in the forested Tatoosh Lodge, a cozy shared space for sleeping, eating, and connecting around the hearth. The surrounding landscape offers maintained trails and outdoor ceremony spaces, inviting you to wander, reflect, and encounter the wildness of the land—and of yourself.

Meals are simple, nourishing, and shared: three breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners. Each participant receives a one-hour massage and access to the saunas and hot tubs during retreat hours. This retreat welcomes women-identifying participants, ages 21 and older.

A full retreat packet—including the detailed schedule and packing list—will be shared closer to the dates, giving you everything you need to prepare for this restorative, story-filled journey.

Facilitator
Mary DeJong will guide and facilitate the Into the Woods Rewilding Retreat. She is a spiritual ecologist, eco-theologian, urban naturalist, and practitioner of place-based pilgrimage, specializing in the art of spiritual companionship and the work of “rewilding.”

Mary leads retreats and pilgrimages throughout the Pacific Northwest and on the storied isle of Iona, Scotland, helping participants encounter the mystical interconnection between self, story, and the natural world. Drawing on teachings from contemporary story-carriers such as Martin Shaw, Sharon Blackie, and Sophie Strand, she has developed an eco-mythos lens that weaves together tale and terrain, story and soul. This unique perspective shapes her work in the Rewilding Retreat programs and in the Wild Iona Journey—a heroine’s pilgrimage designed as a sacred, storied rite of passage.

She has presented widely on sacred story, myth, and pilgrimage, contributed writings in various journals, and appeared on podcasts exploring eco-mythology, sacred land, and the spiritual imagination. Mary has shared her expertise via webinars, workshops, retreats, and conferences, bringing spiritual rewilding into the broader conversation on spiritual formation and eco-theology. She also serves as a guest instructor at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, teaching on myth, eco-spirituality, and the ancient practice of pilgrimage.

A trained urban naturalist and Forest Steward through Seattle’s Green Seattle Partnership, Mary blends ecological knowledge with mythic and spiritual insight, creating immersive, soul-centered experiences in retreat leadership, pilgrimage guidance, and transformative formation practices.
