Lunar Leadings

Reclaiming Wild Wisdom Through Full Moon Ritual & Sacred Earth Connection (2025)

Walking with the Moon, the Sacred, and the Wild

BUY THE BOOK
The moon has long been a timekeeper for Earth-honoring peoples. Lunar calendars once guided harvests, ceremonies, and communal gatherings. Even ancient Hebrew traditions tethered festivals and offerings to the moon’s rhythm: ‘God made the moon to mark the seasons...’ (Psalm 104:19). The moon, then, is not only a celestial body—it is a sacred way-marker.
— Mary DeJong

guidance of the moons

Let your soul attune to the rhythms of Earth, sky, and story. Lunar Leadings is an invitation to wander with the moon as teacher, companion, and mirror—inviting reflection, devotion, and the rewilding of both heart and imagination.

Within these pages you will find:

  • Reflections drawn from land, water, and sky, woven with myth, memoir, and the whispering wisdom of more-than-human companions.

  • Communal practices to carry your awareness beyond the page—to friends, neighbors, and the wider web of life—deepening your sense of belonging to the Sacred Earth.

This is a book for anyone ready to slow, listen, and return to an animate world alive with wonder. To let the moon lead. To let longing and curiosity, story and ritual, open the way to the sacred in every day, in every season.

Meet the Author

Mary DeJong is a contemplative mystic and spiritual ecologist, eco-spiritual companion, and storyteller who weaves spiritual practice, ecology, and myth into everyday life. For the past twelve years, following the birth of her daughter, Mary has been tracking the full moons with her family as a form of a wild and cosmic liturgical calendar—a practice that grounds them in the rhythms of the natural world. Drawing on her eco-theological work and Celtic spiritual lineage, Mary integrates the underlying premises that the Earth is sacred and that our lives unfold within a sacred evolutionary cosmology. This vision naturally shaped her family’s spiritual practices, allowing the cycles of the moon to become a guiding rhythm for reflection, celebration, and communal attunement to the wild and wondrous world around them.

Mary holds a B.A. in English Literature; a Master’s in Theology & Culture with a focus on Eco-Theology and Eco-Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology; post-graduate certificates in Ecology & Religion from Yale Divinity and Forestry Schools; and EcoPsychology and Advanced Applied Mythology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She has also completed the three-year cycle of the School of Celtic Consciousness with John Philip Newell, and trained with the Animas Valley Institute in the Way of Council and Art of Mirroring.

A Year-long Companion

When we live disconnected from the natural world, both the Earth and our inner life suffer. But when we attune ourselves to the rhythms of creation, our inner life begins to sing in har- mony with the world around us. We begin to resonate. This attunement fosters attachment, creating a bridge be- tween our interior world and our outer relational con- text—a bridge that nurtures connection, responsiveness, safety, growth, and relational depth. These relational re- sponsibilities extend into a larger spiritual stewardship of the planet
— Mary DeJong
